Drawings

Drawing has always been the starting point of my creative process. In every line, I find a deep connection with my ancestors, as if the movement of the hand guiding the charcoal across the paper awakened an ancient, shared memory. I prefer charcoal for its simplicity and for the vast range of grays it offers; with it, I can build atmospheres, emotions, and silences.

Most of my drawings are made in charcoal, although at times I mix it with sanguine —a technique that adds warmth and a vibrant contrast. Over the years, I have created countless sketches using these materials, many of which have become the foundation for my paintings. For me, each drawing is a seed: the beginning of a new work, an idea in formation that can grow into a monumental piece. Some of my creations have reached dimensions of up to 8 x 8 feet, yet they all originate from the same place —the intimacy of the line and the honesty of drawing.
